Company data API
Company enrichment API
one cited record per domain
The ProspectAPIs company enrichment API returns one company record for a domain or an exact company name: what it does, its founding year, industry, employee band, social links, funding rounds and a hiring signal. Every field names the page or filing it was read from. A domain we have never seen is built on request, free, and ready about 30 seconds later, and a returned company costs $0.02.
The numbers
The price is read from our live price list each time this page renders.
- Price per company
- $0.02
- Building, several matches and unknown are free.
- Fields per record
- 8
- Each one with its source and whether it is stated or inferred.
- New domain to record
- ~30 s
- Any domain, even one we have never seen.
- Fresher records
- 93 / 93
- Ours was the more recent read on every company both APIs returned.
More filled fields than a leading company-data API
We ran both APIs on the same 100 company domains on 2026-11-04 and counted, field by field, how often each returned a value. Domains came from published funding announcements.
| Field | ProspectAPIs | A leading company-data API | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Description | 96% | 91% | +5 pts |
| Founded year | 50% | 46% | +4 pts |
| Industry | 85% | 73% | +12 pts |
| Employee band | 61% | 55% | +6 pts |
| Social links | 74% | 55% | +19 pts |
| Funding rounds | 98% | 35% | +63 pts |
- Fresher. On all 93 companies both APIs returned, our record was read more recently.
- Funding most of all. Funding rounds are complete from 2026-10-01, and each one links to where it was announced. The rows themselves come from the funding data API.
- What we left out. Headquarters is the one field where the other API returned more often, so it is not in this table and we do not claim it.
What a company record carries
Eight fields, each as a value, the source it came from and whether a page states it or we inferred it. The full schema is on the company profiles docs.
| Field | Meaning | Read from |
|---|---|---|
| description | What the company does, in its own words from its own pages. | Its site |
| hq | Headquarters country, region and city. | Its site or its company page |
| founded_year | The year it was founded. | Its site, its company page or a filing |
| industry | An industry label and sector code, marked inferred when we classified it. | Its site or its company page |
| employee_band | A headcount band where a source states one, such as 11-50. | Its company page |
| social | X and LinkedIn links found on the company's own site, never guessed from the name. | Its site |
| funding | A rollup of the rounds we hold: the amount raised in them, the count and the last round. | Filings and our funding data |
| hiring | A careers page link and any hiring signal. | Its site |
Every field names its source
Most enrichment APIs return a value and ask you to trust it. Here each field points into the record's sources list, with the URL and the time it was read, so a rep or an agent can quote it and a data team can audit it.
- The company's own website. Its home, about and careers pages, including the structured data many sites publish.
- Its public LinkedIn company page. Read only when the company's own site links to it, so we never attach the wrong company.
- SEC Form D filings. The filing a US company makes when it raises money, which also states when it was founded.
- Our funding rounds data. Rounds read from announcements, each with the URL it was published at.
A field no source supports comes back null. We never fill a gap with a guess, and basis tells you when a value is our classification rather than the company's own statement.

Every answer, and what it costs
You pay only for a company returned. Everything else is free.
| Answer | What it means | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | The record is ready. One company, every field with its source. | $0.02, one company |
| 202 building | A domain we have not built yet. We build it now; ask again in about 30 seconds. | Free |
| 300 several matches | More than one company has that name. The answer lists each name and domain to pick from. | Free |
| 404 | The domain does not resolve to a company, or no company has that name. | Free |
How teams use it
- 1
Fill the CRM
Send the domain from a new account or a sign-up email and write back the description, industry, size and socials, with the source beside each value.
- 2
Route inbound leads
Use the employee band, industry and last funding round to decide which rep or sequence a new lead goes to, the moment it arrives.
- 3
Give an agent the facts
Let a research or outreach agent read a cited record before it writes, then pull the founder's profile with a people read and check the address with the email verifier. Our guide to researching prospects with an AI agent shows the whole flow.
Routes and prices
Prices come from GET /pricing. A route marked launching soon is not on sale and charges nothing. Every product is on the pricing page.
| Route | What it does | Price |
|---|---|---|
| GET /v1/companies/:domain | One cited company record, by domain or by exact company name. | Loading the live price |
| GET /v1/companies/:domain/funding | Every funding round we hold for the company, newest first. | Loading the live price |
| GET /v1/companies/:domain/jobs | Open job postings from the company's own public job board. | Loading the live price |
| GET /v1/companies/:domain/technologies | The technologies the company's site and DNS show it uses. | Loading the live price |

Questions
- What is a company enrichment API?
- An API that takes something you already have about a company, usually its domain, and returns what you do not: what it does, where it is based, when it was founded, its industry, its size, its social profiles and its funding. Teams use it to fill CRM records, route inbound leads and give AI agents facts about an account.
- How much does it cost?
- $0.02 per company returned, from a prepaid balance. A record that is still building, a name with several matches and an unknown domain or name are free. Every account starts with a free $1 balance, and there is no seat, contract or monthly minimum.
- What happens with a domain you have never seen?
- We do not answer with an empty record. The API replies 202 building, free, and builds the record from the company's public pages. It is usually ready about 30 seconds later, so you call again and get the full record.
- Can I look a company up by name instead of domain?
- Yes, by its exact name. One match answers exactly as its domain would. When several companies share the name the API replies 300 with each name and domain so you can pick one, and an unknown name replies 404. Both are free, and an ambiguous name is never guessed.
- Where does the data come from?
- The company's own website, its public LinkedIn company page when the site links to it, SEC Form D filings and our funding rounds data. Each field names the source it was read from and whether a page states it or we inferred it, so you can keep stated values only.
- How does it compare with other company data APIs?
- On 100 company domains measured on 2026-11-04 against a leading company-data API, we returned more of every field in the table on this page, funding rounds most of all, and our record was the more recent one on all 93 companies both APIs returned. Headquarters is the one field where we returned less, so we do not claim it.
- Is a company data API the same as a company information API?
- Mostly, yes. Both names describe an API that returns facts about a company. Some company information APIs read official registers, which give legal names and filing numbers; this one reads what a company publishes about itself plus its funding, which is what sales and marketing teams need.
- Can an AI agent use it?
- Yes. The ProspectAPIs MCP server exposes company_get and company_funding on the same key and balance, and any agent that can send an HTTP request can call the routes directly.
