Actions API
LinkedIn automation API
on your own account, per action
The ProspectAPIs LinkedIn automation API is an API that runs actions on your own connected LinkedIn account from code or an AI agent: messages, connection invites, follows, profile visits, posts, reactions, comments and reposts. Each action has one published price, from $0.005 to $0.05, with no seat, and every account is paced per action, refused before any charge when it must wait.

Pacing per account, before any charge
Every connected account is paced per action: a daily limit, a weekly limit and a minimum gap between two actions of the same kind. Per our API, all 3 checks run before any charge. The check runs before the billing hold, so an action the account may not take yet answers 429 action_rate_limited with a Retry-After in seconds and never ties up your balance. Your code waits that long and tries again; nothing else to manage.
Typed outcomes for code and agents
Every answer is a stable code, so a workflow branches without reading text. Per our API reference, these are the 5 outcomes a workflow meets most often; the full list, including 402 for a low balance, is on the errors page. None of them is billed.
| Status and code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 409 account_not_connected | No account is connected yet. | Connect one, then retry |
| 422 session_logged_out | The connected account signed out. | Connect it again |
| 429 action_rate_limited | This account has reached its pace for this action. | Wait Retry-After seconds |
| 400 invalid_target | The person or post cannot be acted on. | Check the reference |
| 503 temporarily_unavailable | Nothing was changed. | Retry shortly |
How it works
- 1
Get an API key
Sign up and create an API key. The first $1 is free and needs no card.
- 2
Connect your account
Send your account's session string, or sign in through the API. It is stored encrypted and deleted when you disconnect; the connect page explains both ways.
- 3
Call the actions
Take a person reference from a profile or search result in the LinkedIn data API and invite, message or follow them, or react and comment on their posts.
Your first request
A connection invite to a person you found with a read.
curl -X POST https://api.prospectapis.com/v1/people/invite \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PROSPECTAPIS_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"person_ref": "<person_ref from a profile or search result>"}'The body, answers and errors of each action are in the invite reference and the pages beside it, such as send a message and comment on a post.
What teams build with it
- Outreach inside your own product. Send the invite and the first message from your app, on the user's own connected account, without a separate tool.
- An agent that drafts, a person who approves. The agent writes the comment or the message; a person approves it before the call is made. Our guide to researching prospects with an AI agent covers the research step before it.
- Posting from where you write. Publish a post from your CMS or your scheduler with one call, and repost or quote from the same place.
- Showing up before the pitch. Visit, follow and react to a prospect's posts you found with the LinkedIn data API.
Pricing
Per our live price list, read each time this page renders, there are 10 actions with one published price each, from $0.005 to $0.05, drawn from a prepaid balance in US dollars. No seat, no monthly fee and no per-account fee, and credits never expire. Connecting an account is free, and a new account starts with $1 free. Every product is on the pricing page.
Built for code and agents
- Typed answers. Every outcome is a stable code, so a workflow can branch on account_not_connected, session_logged_out or action_rate_limited without parsing text.
- One balance. The actions draw from the same prepaid balance as the reads, research and email checks. No seat per sender.
- Agent tools. The MCP server exposes each action as a tool, marked as a write so a client can ask before it runs.
- Your account, your responsibility. Connecting authorizes us to perform the actions you request and nothing else, and you can disconnect at any time. You stay responsible for the platform's own rules on automated activity, the platform may restrict an account, and we store no message content; see the terms and the acceptable use policy.

Questions
- Whose account do the actions run on?
- Yours. You connect your own LinkedIn account once, for free, and every action runs on it. A call made before an account is connected answers 409 account_not_connected and changes nothing.
- How much does it cost?
- Each action has its own published price, from $0.005 (a reaction) to $0.05 (a post); a direct message is $0.03. There is no seat, no monthly fee and no per-account fee: you pay for the actions you run, from a prepaid balance.
- How is the account protected from doing too much?
- Every connected account is paced per action, with a daily limit, a weekly limit and a minimum gap between actions. An action the account may not take yet is refused with 429 action_rate_limited and a Retry-After in seconds, before any charge, so a paced call never holds your balance.
- Can I send bulk messages?
- No. The acceptable use policy forbids unsolicited bulk messages or invitations, and every message must follow the anti-spam and privacy law where the recipient is.
- What do I get back?
- A short confirmation in our own format when the action is done, or a typed error: invalid_target when the person or post cannot be acted on, session_logged_out when the account needs connecting again, and action_rate_limited when pacing refuses it. A failed action is not billed.
- Can it read my inbox?
- Not today. Only the actions are on sale; reading your own conversations is not offered yet.
- Is ProspectAPIs part of LinkedIn?
- No. ProspectAPIs is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by LinkedIn. The platform may limit or restrict an account; our terms say what that means for you.
- Can an AI agent run it?
- Yes. Each action is a tool in the hosted MCP server and the npm package prospectapis-mcp, on the same key and balance.
