Funding data and research
with a source on every fact
ProspectAPIs sells two things over one API key: funding rounds as they are announced, and cited research briefs on the companies you are about to call.
What ProspectAPIs is
ProspectAPIs is a REST API and an MCP server for sales teams and the AI agents that work for them. The funding signals API returns company funding rounds, each with the URL of the announcement it came from. The prospect research API turns one identifier, such as a domain or a work email, into a brief in 10 sections where every field lists its sources. Both are billed per result, from prepaid credits, with no subscription.
- Funding signals API: search rounds by date, round, amount, company, domain, investor and country.
- Watchlists: save a search and receive each new matching round at your webhook, signed.
- Prospect research API: a cited brief on one company or person, ready in 20 to 90 seconds.
- MCP server: the npm package prospectapis-mcp gives an agent 14 tools, one per route, on the same key and credits.
Where the funding data comes from
Every round starts as a public announcement: a news story, a wire release, an SEC filing or an entry in a curated list of venture financings. Our own pipeline reads each one and keeps its link.
Funding news and their feeds
Sites that publish every round they cover, read through their RSS feeds, plus a news search per region and per sector so fewer rounds outside the US and outside tech are missed.
Press release wires
The venture capital lists of the wire services, where companies and investors announce a round in their own words.
SEC Form D filings
Every US private raise under Regulation D is filed with the SEC on EDGAR, with the filing date. Funds and investment vehicles are dropped, so what remains is operating companies.
A curated list of venture financings
A daily, hand-edited list of venture rounds, used as a clean cross-check on the news feeds.
How an announcement becomes a record
- An article reader fetches each announcement and extracts the text, the way a person would read the page.
- Rules pull out the company, the amount, the round and the investors. A language model fills only the fields the rules could not resolve, and only from the text of the article.
- Investor names are checked one by one. A job title, a sentence fragment or a place is dropped, not published as an investor.
- The company's domain is resolved and checked against its home page. A round with no confirmed domain, or below the confidence floor, is held back and never served.
The investor check is measured, not assumed: per our evaluation corpus, it drops 79 strings that were not investors and recovers 6 real investor names, without changing which records are published.
The feeds are read every two hours and new rounds are loaded as they pass these checks. The record fields, including source_url, are listed in the funding API reference.
How every fact carries a source
A funding record carries the URL of the announcement it was read from, so you can open the original before you quote it. A research brief goes further: each field is a value, the list of sources that state it (URL, title, kind and the time it was read) and a confidence score that follows the strongest source. The company's own site and our funding table count for more than a search snippet.
When no source supports a field, the field is left empty rather than guessed. LinkedIn URLs you pass in are used as a name hint only; we do not scrape LinkedIn. The sections of a brief, and what each one holds, are on the research API page.
How it is priced
Funding records cost $0.02 each after 100 free a month, and a research brief costs $0.15 when it completes. A search that matches nothing is free, and a brief that fails is refunded. These prices are read from the API's own price list each time this page renders, so the page cannot show a price the API is not charging. The details are on the pricing page.
Who builds it
ProspectAPIs is built and run by the ProspectAPIs team. We run the API, the funding pipeline and the research workers on our own servers.
