Legal
Terms of service
Last updated 1 October 2026. Published by the ProspectAPIs team.
These terms cover your use of the ProspectAPIs website, dashboard, REST API and MCP server (together, the service). By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them. If you use the service for a company, you agree for that company and confirm you may do so.
Your account and keys
- Give accurate sign-up details and keep your sign-in secure.
- You are responsible for every call made with your API keys. Keep keys out of browsers, public repositories and logs, and revoke a key you think has leaked.
- One person or company per account. Do not create accounts to collect extra free records.
Credits and payment
- The service is prepaid. Credits are bought by card through our payment processor and are 1:1 with US dollars.
- Calls are billed at the prices on the pricing page when the call is made. A research brief is charged only when it completes and is refunded if it fails.
- We may change prices with notice on the pricing page. A change never applies to a call already made.
- Credits are not cash and cannot be transferred. If you believe you were charged in error, tell us and we will look at the call log with you.
Acceptable use
Use of the service must follow the acceptable use policy. We may suspend a key or account that breaks it, that puts the service at risk, or that we are legally required to stop.
The data
Funding records and research briefs are built from public sources and our own funding table, and every brief field lists its sources. We work to keep them accurate, but public sources can be wrong or out of date. Check anything that matters before you rely on it, and do not use the service as the only basis for a decision with legal or similar effect on a person.
You may use what the API returns inside your own products and workflows. You may not resell or republish the data as a substantially similar dataset or API.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service running and to announce breaking changes in advance, but the service is provided as is, without a guaranteed level of availability. We may add, change or retire features. Every response carries an X-API-Version header so you can see which version served it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the three months before it arose.
Ending
You can stop using the service at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms. Sections on payment, data use and liability survive the end of these terms.
