Launch events

Written and maintained by The ProspectAPIs team

The launch events API returns company launches as prospecting triggers: a tech company said in public that it launched something usable now, or that it is about to. Each record names the company and its domain, the kind of launch, when it happened, a link to the company's own post or page, and the founder as a person you can look up next.

Not on sale yet, nothing is charged. Neither route costs anything until pricing lists launch events as available. Billing starts only once a sample of 300 records, checked by two people, shows at least 281 correct.

Launch events, newest launch first. Filter with stage (post, pre), launch_type (comma-separated), domain, company, category, country, since and until. Page with cursor: pass back next_cursor exactly as returned.

GET /v1/launches/:id

One launch event by id. A missing id answers 404 and is free.

Record fields

FieldMeaning
idA stable id for the launch (uuid). A launch keeps its id when its company is resolved again.
stagepost: the company launched something usable now. pre: the company itself says it is about to launch (a waitlist, an early-access page, a teaser). Never a prediction.
launch_typenew_company, new_product, major_version or feature. Null on a pre record that does not say.
company_nameThe launching company.
company_domainThe company's own domain. A launch whose domain we cannot resolve is never served.
product_nameThe product named in the launch, when it names one.
categoryA category such as ai, saas or hardware.
country_codeHeadquarters country as an ISO code, when known.
source_urlThe company's own post or page. We link to it; we never copy its text or media.
launched_atWhen the company published it.
detected_atWhen we found it.
person_refThe founder or poster as an opaque reference (per_ and 24 hex), when a person posted it.
person_nameThat person's public name.
poster_rolecompany, founder or employee: who posted it.
gate_versionThe version of the relevance check that passed the record.

What counts as a launch

A record is served only when all five hold: the company announces it in the first person; the company or a person who works there posted it; something is usable now (or, for pre, the company says it is coming); it is a product, not content; and it is a tech company whose domain we resolved. Token promotions, roundups, parody accounts and third-party news are dropped before anything else. We count precision as records that are right AND name the right company, and publish the sample size and date on the price list.

Watching launches

Create a watchlist with "kind": "launches" and launch filters to get new launches pushed to your webhook as launch.matched events. Each launch is pushed once, keyed on where it came from, so a launch whose company we resolve again later is never sent twice. One company receives at most a few launch deliveries across all customers in any 7 days, unless your watchlist names that company's domain.

Next steps

Create a free account to get a key; every account starts with a free $1 balance. A launch record leads into company profiles, funding signals and email checks for the same domain. Our guide to funding signals for prospecting shows how a trigger like this fits a sales workflow, and the launch signals API page shows who uses launches and why.
